Notice of Special Resolution & Motion

SPECIAL RESOLUTION:

WHEREAS, the Board of the society has met to review the Bylaws of the society;

WHEREAS, the current Bylaws of the society limit membership, excluding significant stakeholders of the society; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, that By-law 6, Article II Membership be amended to read as follows:

(a)  Any persons of good character who subscribes to the objects of the Association and who has made a charitable contribution to the society in the fiscal year shall be deemed a member for the same fiscal year.;

 (b) All active volunteer Big Brothers and Big Sisters shall be deemed members, but shall not be required to make a financial contribution to the society

(c) All legal guardians of children or youth currently enrolled in the society’s mentoring programs shall be deemed members, but shall not be required to make a financial contribution to the society;

(d) All registered Big and Little alumni of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Annapolis Valley, who are the age of majority, shall be deemed members but shall not be required to make a financial contribution to the society;

 ( f)  The Board of Directors may elect, from time to time, as Honorary Members, some person or persons who they see fit, in recognition of outstanding service to the Association.

Currently By-law 6, Article II Membership reads as follows:

6.            The following shall be admitted to membership in the Society:

(a)  Any persons of good character who subscribes to the objects of the Association and who pays the membership fees established from time to time by the Board of Directors;

 (b) All volunteer Big Brothers and Big Sisters shall be deemed members, but shall not be required to pay membership fees;

( c)  The Board of Directors may elect, from time to time, as Honorary Members, some person or persons who they see fit, in recognition of outstanding service to the Association.

 

 

NOTICE OF MOTION:

WHEREAS, the Board of the society has met to review the Bylaws of the society;

WHEREAS, the current Bylaws of the society do not currently allow the board of the society to distribute the responsibilities of the Officers adequately to meet current requirements; therefore, be it

RESOLVED that By-law 31, Article VII Officers be amended to read as follows:

31.          The Officers of the Society shall be a Chair, two Vice Chair’s, a Treasurer, a Secretary, and the Immediate Past Chair.  The office of Treasurer may be combined with the office of either Vice Chair, or the Secretary.

Currently By-law 31, Article VII Officers reads as follows:

31.          The Officers of the Society shall be a Chair, a Vice Chair, a Treasurer, a Secretary and the Immediate Past Chair.  The offices of a Vice Chair and Treasurer, or Treasurer and Secretary may be combined.
